COLE BACKS LAMPARD

The former Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole is of the opinion that the England midfielder Frank Lampard should be offered a new contract to Chelsea. Cole was unceremoniously sent off from Chelsea after the club decided not to offer him a new deal.

They are adopting a similar stance with Lampard, although the former West Ham man is 34 years of age. Despite his age, Lampard continues to have a growing influence on the team. Even though he is currently playing as the defensive midfielder, he has still been able to get into double figures when it comes to scoring goals.

The contract of the 34-year-old comes to an end this season, and there has been no indication that he would be offered new deal by Chelsea. He is already free to discuss contracts with non-English clubs. He has been widely linked with a move to the MLS with LA Galaxy. Cole, who left Chelsea to sign for Liverpool on a free transfer, recently sealed a return to London by signing for his former team West Ham United. Cole has said that he would not be surprised to see several top clubs in Europe looking to sign Lampard due to the form he has been showing in recent months.

“To be honest with you, if Frank [Lampard]’s out of contract, the way he’s playing, all the top clubs in Europe are going to be queuing up. It’s unbelievable if he doesn’t get offered a deal really, because he’s still one of the top midfielders in Europe. And I don’t know how many goals he’s scored this year, but he just doesn’t stop. He’s a machine,” said Joe Cole. Lampard recently scored his 200 goal for Chelsea, while he is only a few short of the record held by Bobby Tambling, who was a striker.
