COLE GETS CHANCE

New Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that former Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole will be given a new lease of life at the club from the start of next season, according to Liverpool news.

Ever since signing on a free transfer from Chelsea a few seasons ago, Joe Cole has been singled out as one of the reasons for the failure of the club to get into the Champions League. He played a few matches under manager Roy Hodgson, but was completely put into cold by Kenny Dalglish. Now that Kenny Dalglish is gone, there has been speculation that Liverpool will be given Joe Cole a new lease of life under new manager Brendan Rodgers.

The former Swansea city manager confirmed the same in a recent press conference by saying that he expects Liverpool midfielder Joe Cole to be back from his loan spell at Lille in the best possible fashion. The 30-year-old has been in impressive form for the French club after scoring nine goals and creating three others. Even though he has been overshadowed by the impressive 21-year-old Belgian Eden Hazard, his form for Lille has not gone unnoticed according to manager Brendan Rodgers. Joe Cole is on a contract worth around £ 100,000 per week, which makes him hard to sell.

“I met up with Joe Cole when I was in Spain, [and] I certainly know he’s looking to come back. I’ve got to assess all the players, like Luis Suarez and Steven Gerrard too. With the likes of Joe – he’s a very talented player. He’s obviously gone out to Lille and done very well and he has the opportunity to come back here and show his qualities. For me it’s fresh for everyone. I’ll be new into the club. Of course I know lots of the players and their qualities but Joe is obviously a player who’ll want to come back and show his worth to the group,” said Rogers.
