COLE HAS FRESH START

Liverpool midfielder Joe Cole has said that he is confident that he can to make his Liverpool career a successful one under the new manager Brendan Rodgers.

The future of the 30-year-old at Anfield was in major doubt after he was sent out on a loan deal to the French club Lille last season. He started his Anfield career in the worst possible fashion with a red card in his debut. Since then, things have never been good for the former Chelsea midfielder, who was a free agent. However, the club have been finding it difficult to sell the midfielder due to his £ 90,000 per week contract.

The former West Ham United midfielder, though, has said that he feels that he can finally kickstart his Liverpool career following the arrival of Brendan Rodgers because the former Swansea manager has a style that suits him, while he also knows him much better due to the Chelsea connection. Brendan Rodgers was the assistant manager to José Mourinho when Joe Cole was one of the best players at Chelsea. As a result, the 30-year-old has said that he is extremely excited about the start of the new season. Joe Cole has featured heavily in the pre-season tour of the United States for Liverpool.

“Yeah, I think the system is good for me. I [also] think it’s going to be good for the team mainly. We’ve taken the ideas on board. It’s a different style of play, it’s a very ‘un-British’ style of play. It’s exciting to be back. We are really happy with the progress we’ve made on this tour with this team. We’re going to keep going in the right direction,” said the former Chelsea midfielder. Liverpool have suffered one defeat and drawn the two matches in the pre-season friendlies so far.
