COLE STILL BELIEVES

The former Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole has said that he still believes that he can be a success at Liverpool, despite struggling under a number of managers in the past. Joe Cole was a free transfer from Chelsea in 2010 and was signed by the former Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson.

However, he was sent off on his debut for the club and it has been a downhill road since then. He has been unable to recreate his Chelsea form under the former manager Kenny Dalglish, while he has once again struggled in the new management of Brendan Rodgers as well.

He was recently criticised by the manager for not being able to perform at the level people know him to be capable of. The former England star is pocketing around £ 90,000 per week at Liverpool, while he has played very little football in recent seasons. However, he was at his best in the recent Europa league match against Young Boys. He opened the scoring for Liverpool, while he once again helped them score the second through an assist. After the match, he expressed his confidence that he can still be one of the best players for Liverpool. He has said that it is only his third match since returning from injury, and is confident of performing well as he gets the fitness back.

“It was nice to be out and playing. It’s been a long time since I got one in front of the Kop. It was my third game back from injury and I’ve felt stronger in every game I’ve played. But there’s no rocket science about it — if you’re a footballer and you return from injury for one game and after that you play a second, you feel a little bit better and in the third game, you feel better still,” said Joe Cole.
