Joe Cole says Carroll can be new Drogba

It wasn’t too long back when almost everybody had written off everybody had written of England striker Andy Carroll after his ill fated and highly unsuccessful switch from Newcastle United to Liverpool.

But the England international striker proved last season that he could still be an extremely effective target man up front for his team when he rediscovered his touch on loan at West Ham United. And now, his club mate Joe Cole believes the England international might have given a new weapon for Sam Allardyce to exploit and reckons the big man has all the attributes to become the new Didier Drogba.

Cole played with the Ivory Coast international forward during his spell with Chelsea and speaking with The Sun, the former England midfielder stated that he had played with Carroll at Liverpool as well as at West Ham and added that the player West Ham got last season and the player that he sees in training is someone who is full of confidence, aggression as well as energy and added that everyone around can see what a good player Carroll actually is.

Joe Cole admitted that he definitely had a tough time during his spell at Liverpool but the Andy Carroll at West Ham United is an absolutely top player and a real handful for opponents. Cole also mentioned that Carroll should now be targeting his place in the England squad once again.

Cole went on to add that the player can become anything he wants to be; adding that when one looks at Drogba, his is the level Carroll can reach if he tries and keeps fit. Joe Cole, Andy Carroll and the West Ham United side will begin their Premier League campaign at home against new boys Cardiff City at home on the 17th of August.
